How to pick one

What to actually track

Whichever sheet you pick, capture these six fields for every deductible expense — they map cleanly to Schedule C and to what your accountant will ask for:

  1. Date of purchase
  2. Merchant / vendor name
  3. Amount (with currency)
  4. Category (Office supplies, Meals, Travel, Utilities, etc.)
  5. Business-use % (if the expense is partly personal)
  6. Link or filename of the receipt image / PDF
